Pious

After the goblins, Silence’s journey continues on, through the forest and out the other side, then onward in the direction of the sea. His destination is a tiny fishing village near the coast. The air grows humid and salty. The trail splits in two; one side slopes down toward the water, the other climbs upward to follow the jagged cliff which overlooks the ocean. The waves below crash gently against the beach. Silence thinks he sees something large and dark in the distance crest the surface of the water. Looking up, on the other hand, shows him nothing but blue sky and blinding sunlight, but as he’s considering his choices a shadow -far too large for any ordinary bird- crosses in front of him, then disappears before he can react.
